Renata Gibbins, Matthew Taylor | photographs, video, installation |space 3

Both artists have just graduated from the Art and Space MA at Kingston University.

Renata Gibbins investigates areas of human behaviour, from documentation of family members to recent video works featuring unknown males.

Chance encounters with three men were recorded, the subjects unaware they were being watched. These mini dramas were dissected frame by frame — images flash by, intimate actions are examined. Why are these men here? Where do they belong?

Matthew Taylor's interest in the idea of English tradition has been explored through his meticulous reproduction of furniture design using less than traditional materials. These earlier explorations have now evolved into site specific architectural structures.

Appropriating from the past and incorporating in the now. To catch the attention momentarily — what is being seen? The object or the space that surrounds it?
