This group show brings together the passion and exuberance of three established abstract artists whose work has a very tangible connection and core: Sebastiano Bonello, Jonet Harley-Peters, and Joseph Zito. Having met earlier this year, the artists realised the natural affinity within their work, their connection to intense purity of colour, and their use of strong shapes (often circles and dots). Although each artist's style is distinct and unique, a commonality of mood is really evoked, so that having a group show was the natural next stage in the exploration of their 'Inner Circle' theme. The artists' inspiration comes from a meditative sense of the space beyond the painting itself. Reflections are captured, the essence of emotion, where life is translated onto the canvas or card through texture and layering, with circles or myriad dots. We are able to cross that moment of time between dreaming & waking; sensing shards of beauty and balance; where inner becomes the outer. This emotional journey has layers of feeling; it is celebrated by the music of colour, it expands the boundary of our perceptions. The tension of contrasting pulls is evident: fire and water, earth and sky, the ethereal with the tangible, as the mystery of inside manifests itself. This movement is a life-spring, creating a vortex around which we observe and revolve. The rhythm and repetition of the work is mesmeric and haunting yet placid and still. Choosing a space to best show their collaboration has been met by the newly re-launched Century Gallery in Shoreditch. The exhibition is curated by Eduardo Sant 'Anna. |
