Lorraine Clarke | 3D, installation | space 2

An exhibition of mixed-media works, expressing a burgeoning interest in the human body, from the tremendous impact of biotechnology to the awesome complexity of the psyche.

Lorraine Clarke's work, with anatomical and biomedical references, is an excavation of the human being, a journey into the deepest layers of the mind and body, evoking both the past and the contemporary. Her research addresses issues of identity, and concerns our incongruencies and drives, our taboos and beliefs surrounding our innermost realms.

In her most recent work, 'Nosce Te Ipsurri', a multi-media triptych of 90 anatomical and biomedical representations, she explores the value of the human body and its components, examining current concerns and sensitive ethical issues about organ donation and human tissue for research, while seeking to subject the viewers to the beauty and vulnerability of their own physicality.
